The traditionally built motor yacht «MS Niagara» offers a travel adventure, back in time and an insight into France as it should be seen.
The full air-conditioned barge with its comfortable wheelhouse-salon offers you an ideal occasion to assist the Captain in all maneuvers. Sumptuous suites and bathrooms await a maximum of 6 (+1) passengers. On the upper level, you will appreciate the spacious sun-deck with swimming pool and Jet-stream - depending on your desires; it can be heated up to 85 °F or more. Just relax and enjoy the comfort of this casual cruise. Smoot-running bicycles are always onboard and ready to go, for casual rides along the tow-path or cross country rides.
Everyday at launch time you will be pampered from morning to evening. The day begins with a hearty French breakfast, a traditional Burgundy menu, accompanied with selected wines. During the afternoon cruise your coffee or tea and pastries are served in the wheelhouse-salon. Every detail of your cruise is affectionately prepared by your first class crew who are also English speaking.
The barge cruises into the late afternoon, taking you through the heart Burgundy's countryside and picturesque villages, famous for their cultural history and art. Everyday hectic life will rapidly disappear and is replaced by the rhythm of the canal locks. That's the French way of life.

Check in at Dijon
At the meeting point of Château la Chassagne near Dijon, an air-conditioned van will drive you to the barge at 5 pm. You are welcomed on board with a "Kir Royal" by the crew and it's captain and with a champagner baptism for the upcoming cruise starts an unforgettable cruise in Burgundy.
On board, your captain will show you all details about your vacation on the barge, your suite and of course the cruise itself. Afterwards you enjoy drinks and appetizers in the wheelhouse-salon or on the sundeck beside the pool. Of course all drinks on board are included around the clock. As you booked half-pension you are free to take our van to discover the sourrounding or take a little walk to one of the typical French restaurants nearby.
Cruise from Dijon to Fleurey-sur-Ouche
While having your French breakfast, the "MS Niagara" leaves the port of Dijon and begins to pass through the locks on the canal - there will be a total of 45 during the cruise. The barge has a snail-like pace which is set by the canal locks. It passes by Lake Kir, afterwards Plombières les Dijon and Velars-sur-Ouche. Ever midday a splendid brunch-buffet is served by the crew, who will also be looking after you throughout the cruise. If you're not a connoisseur of grand Burgundy wines and specialties, you will soon become one!
In the late afternoon the barge moors in the village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche. From there you have the possibility to go on an excursion with your touring-van to discover the city of Dijon, the ancient throne to the Dukes of Burgundy and birth town of Gustave Eiffel. Dijon is also know as the town of "hundred bells", famous for Cassis and the tradition of making mustard. A good opportunity to enjoy a typical French dinner with the other passengers in this beautiful and historic town. Previously a small event: the traditional mustard and cheesetasting.
Cruise from Fleurey-sur-Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche
The voyage takes you into the heart of Burgundy and the magnificent Ouche valley. From the sun deck you can savour the real Burgundy while passing through traditional villages such as Pont-de-Pany, where Chateau la Chassagne is situated, then on to Saint Marie-sur-Ouche. The scenery and life along side the canal will seduce you.
Tonight the barge is moored in a hidden romantic spot, beside the river Ouche and a Gallo Romain bridge, one of the most photographed and painted views in the village of Gissey-sur-Ouche. This is also the starting point of your daily sight seeing tour to get to know this wonderful region and its habitants.

This evening the traditional farewell party for passengers that booked the Mini-Cruise is celebrated. But first, the winner of our traditional Boules/Petanque match 'Passengers : Crew' has to be found. Beginning with cocktails on board, you will learn the art of "Sabrage", slashing open a Champagne bottle with a sword, like the Dukes of Burgundy did hundreds of years ago. Then everybody will be in the right mood for a great farewell dinner. The "sabrage" (the cut off the champagne cork with the sword), you'll be knighted to the Conférie Chateau Chassagne.
Private excursion to Beaune for the 7-days / 6-nights cruise passengers
For today's full-day-excursion we will take you into the vine yards of Burgundy and the wine capital town of Beaune. Wine tasting with French connoisseurs to answer all your questions, visits to some of the most important places along the 'Route de Grands Crus' such as Corton, Volnay and Mersault! For Lunch you will be invited in a highly reputed village restaurant surrounded by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines.
In the afternoon there is plenty of time to visit the famous Hospice de Beaune. visit the charming boutiques lining the cobbled streets of the historic market town. Return to the barge is via the "Hautes Côtes" along the country roads and past the source of the river Ouche. As welcome for the new passengers who have booked the Mini Cruise on the second part of your journey, the kitchen offers a very special buffet or we organize a come together party with BBQ
Cruise from Gissey-sur-Ouche to Pont d'Ouche
The "MS Niagara" leaves Gissey-sur-Ouche in the morning and heads towards Saint Victor-sur-Ouche and La Bussière. After a delicious brunch the cruise goes on along Veuvey to reach today's destination Pont d'Ouche. When your hotel barge is moored, we recommend you to visit Chateauneuf en Auxois from here, which you will pass tomorrow by boat. Walk into this medieval village with its cafes, antiques and curiosity shops along the picturesque streets and it's bistro bars which invite to settle in a drink in the hand. There is also a fantastic view over the Auxois plains, with lakes and the distant Morvan hills. As always in the evening fine French dining can be taken in a typical local restaurant. But before dinner, we celebrate the crowning of the new "wine queen" by a wine, cassis and Crémantdegustation.
Cruise from Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse-en-Auxois
Your captain will work even harder today, passing all the locks between Pont d'Ouche and the final destination of Vandenesse. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy the countryside, relax on the sun-deck, walk or cycle ahead. In the surroundings of Crugey you will have a Burgundy Menu for lunch on board. After the barge has arrived in the port or Vandenesse, it is up to you to decide the destination of your today's excursion: The Water-Château of Commarin or the Canals tunnel entrance in Pouilly-en-Auxois?
This evening we celebrate the traditional farewell party for passengers that booked the full-week Grand Relaxing-Dream Cruise. But first, the winner of our traditional Petanque match 'Passengers : Crew' has to be found. Beginning with cocktails on board, you will learn the art of "Sabrage", slashing open a Champagne bottle with a sword, like the Dukes of Burgundy did hundreds of years ago. Then everybody has the free oppurtinity to join the great traditional farewell dinner.
After a copious breakfast we present you your lock diploma. Passengers will disembark at about 10:30 am. Depending on your personal plans we will take you back to Chateau la Chassagne or the railway station at Dijon.

Check in at Vandenesse
At the meeting point of Chateau la Chassagne, Pont de Pany near Dijon, an air-conditioned bus will transfer you to the barge. You are welcomed on board with a "Kir Royal" by the crew, its captain and an unforgettable cruise is about to begin in Burgundy.
Every evening exceptional dinners in true French atmosphere can be served in one of the nearby traditional restaurants, introducing you to regional specialties and wines with great names. The bar and sun deck provide a warm atmosphere to share drinks with fellow passengers. Of course, all drinks served on board are "inclusive" and available around the clock.
Cruise from Vandenesse to Pont d'Ouche
The Captain has a hard day's work ahead, with many locks between Vandenesse and the destination of Pont d'Ouche, the navigation is very interesting. A wonderful occasion for you to enjoy the countryside as the barge glides along the canal. While you have a hearty breakfast, the MS Niagara leaves the port of Vandenesse and begins to pass through the first locks (there is a total of 45 locks during the weeks cruise). Arriving in the village of Crugey at midday, the chef will enchant you with a typical Burgundy menu. After the lunch time break the barge continues the voyage to the tempo of the canal locks to Pont d'Ouche. When your hotel barge is moored, you will be invited to visit Chateauneuf en Auxois which you passed by today. Walk into this medieval village with its cafes, antique and curiosity shops along the picturesque streets. There is also a fantastic view over the Auxois plains, with lakes and the distant Morvan hills.
Cruise from Pont d'Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche
Today the barge cruise will take you into the magnificent Valley of the Ouche, a journey back in time passing through a unique landscape as the canal twists through the narrow valley. You will have many occasions to be sportive with walking and cycling along the tow-path.
The MS Niagara will pass through the villages of La Bussière-sur-Ouche, Saint Victor to Gissey-sur-Ouche. Arrived there the barge is moored in a hidden romantic spot, beside the river Ouche and a Gallo Roman bridge, one of the most photographed and painted views.

Grande excursion to Beaune for the 7 day cruise passengers
Today you will make an excursion to the capital of Burgundy wines, the town of Beaune. You'll be in some of the finest vine yards of France, such as Aloxe Corton, wine tasting some of the greatest Crus, with expert advice from wine Connoisseurs. Lunch is offered in a traditional restaurant, with the vines in the background and dishes to delight your palette. In the afternoon, there is plenty of time to visit the famous Hospices de Beaune built in 1443 and stroll along cobbled streets with boutiques of all kinds. The return to the barge takes you through the "Hautes Côtes" vine yards and past the source of the river Ouche.
Cruise from Gissey-sur-Ouche to Fleurey-sur-Ouche
As the valley slowly unfolds, the barge passes through the charming villages of Saint Marie-sur-Ouche and Pont de Pany, with Chateau la Chassagne on the hill side. The barge heads on to the village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche. There are many opportunities to use the mountain bikes and explore the surroundings or a short walk to a nearby café. Once moored in Fleurey-sur-Ouche there are possibilities to discover more about the region, from Gallo-Roman ruins to feudal castles with dramatic histories. Today the passengers tell the guide where they would like to go: For example la Route des Grand Crus, Clos Vougeot or Nuit Saint Georges. On returning to the MS Niagara’s mooring, as every day, the passengers leave for a typical French restaurant. So "Bon Appetite".
Cruise from Fleurey-sur-Ouche to Dijon
On today's journey the barge will follow the route via Plombières les Dijon. The MS Niagara passes beside the "Lac Kir", built for Canon Kir, once mayor of Dijon, after whom the famous aperitif was named. The barge finally arrives in the splendid port of Dijon, near the heart of the city. The ancient palace to the powerful Dukes of Burgundy, Notre Dame, Rue de la Chouette are just some of the splendours of Dijon, the city of a hundred bells. As Dijon is the world's capital of mustard, an assortment of local mustards is offered to you as souvenir. For tonight's cocktails on board you can learn the art of "Sabrage", where you can slash open a Champagne bottle with a sword, like the Dukes of Burgundy did hundreds of years ago. Afterwards everybody will be in the right mood for an outside grand farewell dinner or for a private party aboard.
